Studying Nursing at the Universidad Austral de Chile, you will become a comprehensive and competent professional capable of providing the care and support that individuals, families, and communities require, encouraging self-care, illness prevention, recovery, rehabilitation, and help for people with terminal conditions.

The education that you will receive is both theoretical and practical, as well as involving clinical research. The teaching-learning process envisions the student in the lead role and the professor as his or her facilitator and guide.

Graduates of the speech therapy program at the Universidad Austral de Chile are professionals who possess knowledge in the areas of health and behavioral sciences, allowing them to perform efficiently in the public and/or private sectors, whether in the realm of health, education, or the arts. We attend to people from diverse age ranges affected by impairments in communication, language, speech, voice, swallowing, hearing, and/or balance, integrating inter-, multi-, or transdisciplinary work groups. Our graduates are highly committed both socially and ethically and capable of team work, critical thinking, proactivity, responsibility, and flexibility in the workplace, contributing to a higher quality of life for the people they work with.

Kinesiology can be understood as, on the one hand, the science of human movement, and on the other, as physical therapy, or kinesiotherapy. Together, these approaches seek to promote, prevent, and rehabilitate in terms of the health of individuals with movement disorders, with the end goal of improving their quality of life.

Our graduates receive an education based on a comprehensive vision of the human being, developing abilities that allow them to perform effectively both in basic clinical research and in the healthcare field. They are capable of observation and discernment centered on the individual and his or her particular characteristics.

The Universidad Austral de Chile trains primary care physicians with strong biological, psychological, and social knowledge bases, allowing them to appropriately address outreach, prevention, recovery, and rehabilitation in the field of healthcare.

Our program’s study plan includes four formative cycles, with a comprehensive vision of the medical sciences and an early entrance into the clinical campus. The initial emphasis of the program involves the biological and biomedical sciences, focusing on scientific and technological training. Following this stage, the curriculum is centered on the development and use of the capacity for integration, analysis, and application of the skills, abilities, and knowledge related to the professional field.

At UACh, we educate midwives with solid ethical, humanistic, scientific, and technological foundations. We work from a comprehensive and interdisciplinary perspective that makes our graduates highly competent in leading the management of sexual and reproductive healthcare of women, men, couples, families, and communities. Our approach is based on family and community health, gender issues, and sexual and reproductive rights.

The education of our students is both theoretical and practical and oriented toward clinical research. We support the development of affective and communicative abilities, teamwork, and leadership through direct, real-world contact with the field, clinical simulation, and the use of relevant and up-to-date educational and information technologies. In our program, the lead role is played by the student.

Our graduates carry out their work in areas such as health promotion and prevention, neonatology, obstetrics, gynecology, sexual health, management and administration of health services, public health, and research, supporting people throughout the courses of their lives.

At UACh, we offer a complete education to dental surgeons with robust scientific and humanistic knowledge bases and problem-solving skills. Our students are constantly refining their abilities and are capable of adapting new technologies, assuming leadership positions on healthcare teams, and committing to the oral healthcare needs of their patients and communities. We consider the human being in its totality through a comprehensive education in medicine, basic and clinical research, and public service.

As a professional graduating from this program, you will be capable of preventing, diagnosing, and treating medical conditions based on the solid scientific, technical, and public health knowledge acquired during your years of study.

As a psychology student, you will receive the education necessary to be a general psychologist capable of coordinating knowledge and competencies to evaluate, diagnose, and intervene in processes that involve individuals, groups, and organizations. Our graduates are distinguished for their capacity for critical reflection, ethical discernment, scientific rigor, responsibility, and respect for the people and the communities in which they carry out their practice. These are the hallmarks of the education we offer. A significant proportion of our curriculum is complemented by activities that facilitate relationships with the community, allowing for your permanent inclusion in real work contexts.

Medical technologists from the Universidad Austral de Chile are university-level professionals integrated into healthcare teams, possessing a solid scientific education, and capable of carrying out and validating examinations and procedures and applying specific treatments according to their specializations. These specializations include Clinical Laboratory, Hematology and Blood Bank, and Imaging and Medical Physics. The actions of these professionals are fundamental in determining the presence of illnesses and delivering the necessary information to initiate and manage adequate treatments.

The plan of studies has a five-year duration, during which those with concentrations in Clinical Laboratory and Hematology and Blood Bank receive targeted training in the areas of clinical biochemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, microbiology, and parasitology. Meanwhile, those in the Imaging and Medical Physics concentration will have their education oriented toward the areas of imaging and radiotherapy. Within their specific concentrations, our graduates are general professionals who likewise possess specializations.

The occupational therapy degree program at the Universidad Austral de Chile educates healthcare professionals oriented toward facilitating, accompanying, and aiding individuals in their participation in significant activities and their optimal performance within relevant social and cultural contexts.

The occupational therapist supports the process of social inclusion, as well as the participation of individuals in diverse settings. Occupational therapists educated at UACh are healthcare professionals who possess a strong scientific-humanistic orientation, one grounded in critical thinking and centered on processes of social participation at both individual and collective levels.

Study in this program focuses on elements of the health sciences, integrating a strong humanistic focus tailored to studies of occupation. This is a central pillar of our training, which is aimed at the study and comprehension of the relationships that exist between occupations, health, and personal well-being. The learning process is composed of two cycles: associate’s and bachelor’s degree – professional title.

The School of Chemistry and Pharmaceutics has the mission of educating healthcare professionals who are experts in medicines and other chemical substances with biological activity. The fundamental orientation of our program is the generation of pharmaceutical professionals with significant social, ethical, and ecological commitment who are capable of distinguishing the sanitary and social necessities of the population. Graduates will also be able to collaborate in their professional work to supply said necessities and resolve the issues associated with them, operating from a perspective in which the medicine and its user represent an inextricable relationship in the name of social wellbeing.
