Food engineers graduating from the Universidad Austral de Chile is a professional with a robust knowledge base in the agri-food sciences. They are capable of applying engineering, technology, and research to the formulation, transformation, and administration of industrial, mechanical, and human processes and equipment for the management of prime food items destined for human and animal consumption. They ensure safety within the relevant legal frameworks and in terms of environmental sustainability.

Conservation and natural resources engineers at the Universidad Austral de Chile are professionals who balance the conservation of natural resources and the diverse necessities related to the goods and services that society demands. They develop strategies for the sustainable development of society through field work with people, ecosystems, and flora and fauna. Engineers in conversation understand natural systems, species, and the services that nature provides to society, and they work with knowledge and techniques in both environmental and economic terms, as well as in the legal and cultural spheres. They apply their knowledge to the resolution of environmental issues and establish bridges between distinct disciplines to promote sustainable development.

Forestry engineers from the Universidad Austral de Chile fill a fundamental role in the sustainable management of forest resources and in the creation of new forests, helping to satisfy our society’s increasing needs for wood, water, and recreation in natural environments, as well as other forest products. UACh’s forestry engineers learn in Valdivia and the forests of Chile about tools that will allow them to conceive, design, implement, and operate forestry systems and to manage and protect forest resources for the wellbeing of society. They are professionals trained to undertake challenges and innovate in economic, social, and environmental activities related to forests and their surroundings.

Since the founding of the Universidad Austral de Chile, veterinary doctors have been educated here. Our graduates are professionals who, supported by excellent teaching and robust infrastructure, are prepared to solve problems in animal health, animal production, public veterinary health, animal environments, and hygiene and food technology.

We stand out for our geographic location in the heart of the livestock and aquaculture zones of Chile. Our campus is set in natural surroundings that allow for a strong relationship between students and animal life and the environment. We are also home to the Veterinary Hospital Clinic, unique in Chile, as well as the Wildlife Rescue Center and the Artificial Insemination Center, which is likewise the only of its kind in the country. The university also holds diverse agricultural and livestock sites, both on and off campus, where students can carry out pre-professional and professional practicums that require them to approach and engage with the professional world.
